FAAC Automatic Swing Gates & Paxton Net2 Access Control at Saints RLFC

Mere UK completed the installation and commissioning of an automatic vehicle gate and access control system at the Saints RLFC training ground in St Helens. The project combined FAAC automatic swing gate operators with Paxton Net2 access control, providing controlled vehicle access for authorised personnel while allowing visitors and deliveries to request entry through an integrated intercom system.

Two FAAC 400 hydraulic swing gate operators were installed and configured through a FAAC 455D control panel. The gate automation was integrated with the site’s existing Paxton Net2 system, extending the existing access control infrastructure to the vehicle entrance.

The entrance was specifically designed for vehicle access, helping maintain separation between vehicles and pedestrian movements around the training facility.

FAAC Automatic Swing Gate Installation

Mere UK installed two FAAC 400 hydraulic swing gate operators to automate the vehicle entrance at the Saints RLFC training ground.

The operators were configured through a FAAC 455D control panel, providing powered operation of the vehicle entrance and forming the core of the controlled access system.

Paxton Net2 Access Control Integration

The automatic gates were integrated with the site’s existing Paxton Net2 access control system.

Authorised users could gain access using a satin chrome proximity reader, extending the existing Paxton infrastructure to the external vehicle entrance and allowing access to be managed as part of the wider site security system.

Visitor & Delivery Intercom

Visitors and deliveries were provided with a separate means of requesting access using a Siemens SI-BM3 door-entry intercom.

The intercom was connected through the site’s existing PABX telephone system, allowing gate calls to be handled internally before access was granted.

Automatic Vehicle Exit

Vehicle exit from the secure area was controlled using an induction floor loop.

Approaching vehicles could therefore trigger the automatic gates from within the secure area, allowing convenient vehicle egress while maintaining controlled entry from the public side.

An override key switch was also installed within the secure area to provide authorised manual control when required.
