School Gates, Liverpool
By upgrading the existing manually pinned-open pedestrian swing gate at St Edward’s College, we significantly enhanced the safety of both pupils and staff. Automating the gate, combined with the installation of a Paxton Net2 Access Control System and Videx audio intercom system, now allows the school to efficiently manage and control access to the site.
The automatic vehicle gates installed at St Edward’s College have been specifically designed to prevent pedestrian access. All pedestrian traffic is safely redirected to a dedicated automated pedestrian entrance, ensuring clear separation between vehicles and foot traffic.
The vehicle gates are powered by two FAAC 400CBAC automatic gate operators, controlled via a FAAC E145 control panel.
Access to the site through the vehicle gates is managed using a Paxton Net2 Access Control System for authorised staff. Visitors and delivery personnel gain entry via a Videx video intercom system, which is monitored from the school reception.
For exiting the site, vehicle induction loop detectors are installed within the secure area, allowing automatic gate opening for outbound traffic.
A manual override key switch is provided to enable operation of the gates in the event of system failure or emergency.
All control equipment is housed within a Ritherdon enclosure, complete with a 230V power supply, ensuring secure and localised system control.
