Installation of FAAC automatic pedestrian gates

Completion Date: March 2018

Project Duration: 2 Weeks

Mill Green School required a robust solution to automate its vehicle entrance, with a clear separation between vehicular and pedestrian access. The objective was to prevent foot traffic from using the main vehicle gate and instead route all pedestrians through a secure, dedicated entrance.

The Solution

Mere UK Ltd implemented a fully automated vehicle gate system designed exclusively for vehicular access. To ensure maximum safety, pedestrians were rerouted to a designated pedestrian entrance—separate from the main vehicle access point.

Key features of the solution included:

  • Automated Vehicle Gate:
A high-performance automatic gate tailored for vehicle use only, ensuring secure and efficient access control during school hours and after.

  • Pedestrian Diversion System:
All pedestrian movement was redirected away from the vehicle entrance. A separate entrance equipped with dual swing gate arms was installed specifically for foot traffic.

  • Paxton Net2 Access Control:
The pedestrian gate was integrated with Paxton Net2—a scalable and reliable access control system allowing secure and flexible entry management.

  • Videx Intercom Integration:
To enhance communication and visitor management, a Videx intercom was installed at the pedestrian gate. This provides visual and audio verification before granting access.

Results

  • Improved Safety: Vehicle and pedestrian segregation significantly reduced the risk of accidents at the school entrance.

  • Enhanced Security: Paxton Net2 and Videx systems provided controlled and traceable access.

  • Operational Efficiency: Automation streamlined entry for staff and visitors while maintaining strict security standards.
