The Project

Mere UK was tasked with providing a temporary CCTV solution that could be installed at height and used to monitor progress throughout the building project.

Unlike a conventional security CCTV installation, where cameras are typically positioned to monitor entrances, perimeters or specific areas of a property, this project required a camera position capable of capturing a much wider view of the construction works.

A rooftop location provided the elevated viewing angle required for both construction project monitoring and time-lapse recording.

Rooftop CCTV Installation

The camera was installed on a dedicated pole-mounted bracket positioned at roof level.

As shown in the project photographs, the installation provided the camera with an elevated and largely unobstructed field of view across the surrounding development.

The CCTV equipment and associated cabling were installed as a temporary solution, allowing footage of the build to be acquired while the construction project progressed.

Working at roof level also required the installation to be planned around the available mounting position and existing rooftop environment.

Construction Monitoring & Time-Lapse CCTV

Temporary CCTV can provide more than conventional site security.

For construction and development projects, strategically positioned cameras can provide a visual record of work as it progresses. When installed with an appropriate overview of the site, recorded images can also be used to produce construction time-lapse footage, documenting different stages of a build from a consistent viewing position.

For The Christie project, the principal purpose of the rooftop camera was to allow the construction work to be monitored and time-lapse footage to be acquired throughout the build.

The elevated camera position provided the broad overview required while keeping the equipment away from the active construction area below.

A Temporary CCTV Solution

As the CCTV equipment was required specifically for the duration of the construction project, Mere UK provided a temporary installation rather than a permanent building security system.

The installation itself was completed within two days, minimising disruption while providing the required camera position for ongoing project monitoring.
